Glengarry glen ross is a play that stands as a picture of the capitalistic society and the consequences which a competitive work environment has on a small, middle-class man. How hard is to stay on a hamster wheel and not fall off. People become more destructive as they are overwhelmed and they are trying to deal with the pressure in any way they can, compromising their morals on the way.
We start the play with an intimate scene in a Chinese Restaurant. The restaurant is half-empty, the light is more intimate and warm. we are getting a sense of privacy. The conversations that happen in restaurants are more intimate and people are opening up about their frustrations wherein office they can't do that because they have to show off and compete.
*Transition from restaurant to the office is executed by both crew and actors. The crew is dressed up as servers working in the restaurant ( uniforms ) and they are pushing out pieces related to the restaurant. When 2 booths go out, actors are coming in to work each pushing their office table unit.
Office space is worn out unorganized and messy. bright office lighting is giving us the sense of how exposed our characters feel. all lights are on them and they have to perform or they will be cut.
